Summer of 2012 – 2013 Hottest On Record Wildfires Burn in Tasmania

Tasmania is suffering from the same extreme climate shifts as the Australian mainland just to the north.

The hottest single temperature ever measured in Australia was 117F, recorded in January 2013 at Warburton in the Northern Territorys. This is consistent with an alarming pattern that has been intensifying in recent years. Much of the country experienced temperatures exceeding 113 degrees, with Sydney reaching 114 degrees and establishing a new high for the city in 150 years of record keeping. Other records fell at Wellington (110.7 F), 111.4 F in Adelaide and 121F in Moomba.
